Equity in Education
The Center for Public Education defines the term as follows: "Equity is achieved when all students receive the resources they need so they graduate prepared for success after high school." Equity simply translates to "fairness."
"Equity is the process; equality is the outcome" If the goal is equality, one must travel down the road of equity (The Glossary of Education Reform). The process examines policies, procedures, and practices for equitable outcomes.
Equality is providing equal opportunities for all students or employees.
Equity is providing each person with the support and resources they need to be successful.
The Implicit Association Test (IAT) measures attitudes and beliefs that people may be unwilling or unable to report.
We focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion because it is the right thing to do. Educational Equity has lasting impacts on communities producing results to change the narrative.
